History of Our Congregation
Founded in 1964, Peace Lutheran Church celebrated it's 50th anniversary in 2014--and what an occasion it was! Members, former members and friends within the community packed our facility for our Saturday evening dinner/program and again on Sunday morning for worship and a luncheon. Prior to that weekend, we spent a lot of effort giving our facility a facelift. We're proud of what we did and how our church now looks! It was our Year of Jubilee and, as one of our banners declared, we "Raised the Praise!"
Originally a mission of the American Lutheran Church, the congregation was a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for most of its existence. In December of 2011, for a variety of reasons, Peace left the ELCA and joined the Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ federation--a growing fellowship of evangelical Lutheran Christians. We believe our best years lie still ahead!
Although proud of our Lutheran heritage and theology, we at Peace welcome believers of all traditions--and especially those unbelievers who are searching for God! Our motto is: We're not just for Lutherans! And we mean that!
